Utilizing our extensive experience buying, selling and transporting logs in the Pacific Northwest, we work to bring buyer & seller interests together to develop stable fiber flows from surplus to deficit supply areas helping sustain long-established US domestic mills which in turn support their families & communities.
1. As-develops local market updates and information (US and Canada)
2. As-develops updates on upcoming purchase opportunities in both US and Canada
3. Accurate scale conversions (Canada)-on a boom by boom basis
4. Weekly-quality control, sort checks and production updates (US and Canada)
5. Weekly (or as needed)-boom inspections (quality control-packaging, control of log loss, etc.)
6. Weekly- updates on scheduling of tows and barges
7. Weekly (or as needed) remote inventory updates
8. Permitting (Canada)-timed with barge/tow schedules
9. For towed booms-manage sticks and gear inventories to point of return to original supplier
10. Act as purchasing agent (if desired by purchaser) and/or selling agent (boom sticks and gear)
11. Contract Administration (weekly) i.e., state timber sales. USFS timber sales, etc.
12. Confidentiality and Conflict of Interest agreements (part of contract)
13. Represent purchaser in all efforts
1. Saves on purchaser company personnel time and travel expenses (time limited for long distance travel)
2. Eliminates the need to hire additional experienced people (head count issues)
3. Timely local market knowledge (US and Canada)
4. Opens access to additional supply (US and Canada)
5. Incremental volume purchased outside local supply can help to stabilize or even reduce pressure from local competition
6. Strong advantage of experienced knowledge of supplier contacts, government regulations, towing/barging contractors, log production areas and sorts and extensive knowledge of US sawmill requirements and specs
7. Allows for synergies of combining with other purchasers to build barges/tows, inspections, QC, etc. (additional cost savings)
8. Accurate scale information (conversions metric to Scribner) and can help to reduce or eliminate the need to re-scale 100% (sample and/or check scales=big additional cost savings)
9. More timely effort on quality control, sorting and packaging (bundles)-eliminates surprises (can be up to 6 weeks from time booms are built to time they can actually leave Canada=additional cost savings)
10. Represent the log purchaser's interests in all efforts
Owner - 43+ years of extensive experience throughout the Pacific Northwest, Coastal British Columbia and Alaska in forest management, log procurement, marketing, quality control and transporting logs via water. Eric's knowledge and expertise as well as his relationships with both purchasers and suppliers allow him to bring together surplus and need in a way that is beneficial to all.
